About Us!

My photo
We are Elizabeth and Allan Pack and have been married 8 years. In November 2011 we took that leap of faith and applied to adopt a child from Ethiopia. This blog is all about our journey from start to finish. We patiently waited for 5 years to bring our child home and as of April 2016 we felt God was leading us to withdraw from the program and help another family bring home their child.

Blessings

Ok, these past two weeks have been A MAZ ING! :) God is doing great things in our lives and in this adoption process! I'll start with two weeks ago as it was getting close to our Both Hands project and we still only had a small amount of supplies to work on Mary's house. I'm a planner and was trying to take control and figure out what we were going to do because we didn't want to let Mary down. So, we began praying about how we were to provide at least the flooring for her laundry room. Of course, I'm not in control though, God is in control and he has perfect timing! I'm so thankful we serve a patient God, because too often I try to take control and plan out what I want, instead of being patient, waiting and trusting in God. The week of the project, we put an article in the newspaper to let everyone know about the Both Hands project and we had a man, who wants to remain Anonymous, call Allan and ask what we needed for the project. He was able to donate everything else needed for her house and gave a gift card for Mary to pick out the flooring for her laundry room and there was enough on the card to provide her with a new fence as well! How awesome is that? All the Glory to God!
   In the week leading up to our project, we were blessed with a love donation from the church for the adoption. God continues to provide financially for this adoption and we are so grateful to everyone who donates to help us bring our child home! The following day we went to Home Depot to pick up some donations and as we were talking to the cashier, we found out that him and his wife plan on adopting as well! It is so neat how God continues to place people in our lives who are or have adopted.
  Yesterday was the big day of our Both Hands project and Allan and I woke to a down  pour of RAIN! Talk about being disappointed! We had prayed for weeks there would be no rain, because we had a lot of outside work that needed to be done at Mary's house. I continued to prayed that maybe, by chance it wasn't raining in Brevard or that it would stop by the time we left the house. Well, it came time to leave and nope, it was still pouring outside, so we wrapped the Sheet rock in a tarp and off we went. I had a lot of time to pray as it is a 40 minute drive from our house to hers, and in that time God gave me peace about the day. Again, I had everything planned out in my head how I wanted it to go, but, it is in HIS hands, and there was a reason for the rain, even if at the time we don't know what that reason is! With it raining, how easy it would have been to just give up and call it off,  but we were determined to help Mary with things at her house, just as we are determined to bring our child home! It continued to rain on and off all day and it didn't even matter. We had a great team of people who stuck with us, with no complaints, happy and willing to serve the widow!
The power also went out around 5pm, which put a stop to a lot of the work in the laundry room, but we still had people in her house, painting with one hand and holding a flashlight to see with the other. It was overwhelming to see their hard work and dedication in helping us and the widow, they didn't let anything stop them. We are just so blessed to have them as friends and family. We were able to get almost everything done and will be going back tomorrow to finish up the laundry room. Our friend, Tommy has prepared the video and I've attached it below . :)
   We continue to be in awe of our Great God! He continues to bless us and has put so many great people in our lives. We love bragging on God and what he is doing! Whatever comes our way, we continue to praise HIS name!

"Many, Lord my God,
    are the wonders you have done,
    the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
    were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
    they would be too many to declare."

Short but Sweet

     We are getting super excited about our Both Hands project on May 18th! This is a great way for us to help a widow and an orphan and we are excited to see what God is up to! :)
     Also, we recently were blessed with the opportunity to watch some kids at the church twice a month and will receive donations for the Adoption for doing this! I almost feel guilty taking money for babysitting because I enjoy it so much, but we also need that help to bring our child home! We are just so blessed!! :)
    It's been super busy lately, but we will post some pictures of the puzzle asap!
   Also, coming up on June 15th we are having our Adoption Yard Sale! :) So, mark your calendars!
